A merchant account is a type of bank account that allows businesses to accept and process payments made via credit and debit cards. It serves as an intermediary between the business's bank account and the customer's card-issuing bank, facilitating the transaction and ensuring funds are properly transferred.
To bring transparency, integrity and accountability to the merchant services business. Essentially, we aim to be the “uncarrier” of merchant service providers.
Pricing in merchant services can be confusing, which often obscures the transparency we strive to bring to the relationship. Therefore, we offer four pricing models:
Enjoy cost-plus interchange fees with a fixed markup, ensuring stability throughout our partnership. We focus on long-term relationships, unlike others who increase fees post-onboarding.
Interchange Plus pricing means you get access to the lowest possible interchange rate for each transaction. Revenue One passes on the true cost for each and every transaction you process, and adds our set margin on top for our service... No surprises. You only pay for what you process and that's it.
This is a fixed rate that we charge for card transactions. Under this construct, clients are able to easily calculate their processing costs of card transactions.
Fixed Rate Pricing involves a fixed percentage fee on every transaction, regardless of the card type or transaction size. For instance, a merchant might be charged 2.75% per transaction, making net revenue forecast more predictable.
Clients choosing this option over Interchange Plus or Fixed Rate refers to the practice of adding an additional fee to a customer’s payment to offset the costs of credit card processing, effectively reducing credit card processing fees to zero.
Compliant surcharging is done in accordance with legal, regulatory, and Card Brand requirements. This option is becoming more prevalent as merchants look to offset inflationary and interest rate pressures.
When it comes to payment options, consumers want choice and convenience. Our Cash Discounting solution provides both – offering your customers a discount and a point-of-sale convenience when they pay with cash, check, or store gift card. Plus, with our cash discount solution, you can eliminate card acceptance costs for that transaction and potentially avoid any card transaction disputes or customer chargebacks.
Benefits of Cash Discounting
Things to consider when implementing your Cash Discounting program...
Since you cannot offer surcharge for credit card transactions while also offering cash discounting, you may want to ensure that your card acceptance costs are included as part of your posted on-the-shelf price for goods and services — which may be discounted for cash payment.
For example:
Keep it simple and convenient
The Cash Discounting solution is simple: at the time of checkout, the customer is presented with two options to choose from – the total posted price if they pay with a credit card, or the discounted cost if they pay with cash. From there, the choice is theirs. If debit/credit is selected, the point-of-sale device moves to the next screen and prompts for card entry as usual. If cash price is selected, the credit card transaction is canceled, cash is used, and the lower discounted price is paid.
